Synopsis

Lauren Rutherford knows she is many things: a failed baker, an orphan, and a computer programmer. She also suspects she is ever so slightly nuts given that she often has conversations with her multiple personalities and Bad Luck is a man who seems to enjoy tormenting her at every opportunity.

What Lauren doesn't know is that she is also a witch. She needs to learn, and fast, because the only thing between her and certain death is Agnes, her long-dead ancestor who has a foul mouth and a passion for G-strings, and Daniel, a sexy as hell male witch who drives her to distraction.

As the last descendant of a long line of witches, Lauren is the victim of a four hundred year old curse. Her life depends on her surviving a challenge set down by three damned souls, a challenge that will take her to hell and back. Literally. And Satan doesn't do tea and scones!

Synopsis

This is the story of the Prince aka the Master aka Francis, who is more or less immortal and goes through the millennia fighting Desire and Rejection, the roots of all unhappiness and evil. He always fails until the moment he loses interest and decides to die, which he doesn’t. Instead he is promoted.

The Prince and the Singularity – A Circular Tale proposes a fictitious Creation Myth, whisking the readers away on a thought-provoking rollercoaster ride of a story that will make them question as never before what they truly believe about the nature of existence. At once funny and controversial, it can be viewed as a heretical twist on established religious teachings or as a sweet and sensitive depiction of the ascension of a Bodhisattva or as. . . well, it’s up to whoever is reading it, really.

You will get out of this story exactly what you put into it. Love it or hate it, though, you will not be able to remain indifferent to the message of this funny, touching, thought-provoking book.

Synopsis

After shooting and killing his nephew, a gunman runs wild in a London park. What drives Edward to commit such heinous acts? Who will survive yet another of his moments of madness? The action takes place in Jersey, Cornwall, Manchester, London and other places not of this world. Set in 2015, Random Bullets is a crime thriller with a paranormal twist.

If I tell you that I was disinherited by my crazy father, you might understand why I feel a degree of sympathy for Edward. I was interviewed in February 2016 by two BBC Radio 4 producers as part of their Analysis programme on the subject of Inheritance. They’d heard that my book, Random Bullets, deals with the subject of disinheritance and its aftermath.

"Action-packed, thought-provoking, a real ride. I couldn't put it down," "crime with a twist," "An insightful look behind the many faces we wear, and how burning resentments can take you into madness and murder," "Kinetic... really zips along at a pace, I was really drawn in" are just a few of the reader reviews that Random Bullets has received.

Random Bullets is available on Amazon in paperback, Kindle, and audiobook editions.

AMAZON UK BESTSELLING RELIGIOUS MYSTERY, BIBLICAL FICTION, and RELIGIOUS FANTASY

A DYING CONDESA'S LAST HOPE
A DISGRACED JUDGE'S CHANCE FOR REDEMPTION
AND A SECRET THAT REMAINED HIDDEN FOR CENTURIES...
✚ UNTIL NOW ✚
The Lazarus Succession takes readers to the ancient scene of Christ's greatest miracle, to medieval Spain, and back to modern-day Europe. In typical Ken Fry style, nothing is as it seems and a surprise awaits at every turn of the page.

"Although similar in many ways to the books by Dan Brown, I enjoyed it more. It was both sophisticated yet down to earth, despite Brodie’s visions. At no point does the author over dramatize the story, but with his excellent grasp of the written word he leads us to accept the surreal as perfectly normal and possible. The writing is excellent, the book is a treasure in itself and I would love to award this six stars."

ON TO THE STORY...

According to legend, Annas Zevi, an artist who witnessed the raising of Lazarus, was told by Christ to paint what he saw. Over the centuries, his completed works has vanished, along with every other painting depicting Lazarus' resurrection. They were rumoured to be sacred icons with miraculous powers.

International Art Recovery Experts, Broderick Ladro and Ulla Stuart, are hired by a disgraced High Court judge, Sir Maxwell Throgmorton, to locate a long lost medieval painting by Spanish artist Francisco Cortez. Like Zevi, his work is said to be divinely inspired.

Throgmorton's client, a wealthy Spanish Condesa, is terminally ill and the icon is her last hope. She will pay and do whatever it takes to find the missing work of Cortez.

Unbeknown to the Condesa, Throgmorton seeks to make a vast personal fortune from the discovery of the paintings, and use it to reclaim his place in society.

Ladro and Stuart learns of Throgmorton's deceit and attempts to thwart his plans. As they delve deeper into the mystery of the missing Cortez painting, they discover a secret that changes their lives forever.

Just as it changed the lives of everyone it touched across the centuries.

"The Lazarus Succession delivers the religious conspiracy and intricate mystery facets of Dan Brown with a careful weaving of Biblical events - with conspiratorial agents, both modern and ancient, in a clue-filled supernatural mystery thriller."

"The Lazarus Succession has a great historical and religious foundation combined with a dynamic plot, twists, and turns. Ken Fry knows how to keep the reader's attention and trigger their emotional response."

Synopsis

An Awesome Indies Approved novel - your guarantee of quality writing.

Book 1 of the Realm of Dica series.

An epic mystery set within the exquisitely realised ‘created-world’ realm of Dica. At its heart is a story spanning the millennia – from ancient myth and legend to the realm’s turbulent present – all seen through the intimate vision of its idiosyncratic characters. These are folk who’ll become as real to you as friends or family, and whose revealing and somehow contemporary story will stay with you for ever more.
This is the kind of fantasy you might have expected to have come from the pen of Mervyn Peake, peopled with fully fleshed out characters reminiscent of those so joyously created by Terry Pratchett. The story at times, though, may seem to owe more to CS Lewis as it weaves its way through a rich, deep and multi-threaded tapestry of a plot that would have pleased the science fiction master Olaf Stapledon. And of course, there’s one character who mustn’t be overlooked, and that’s Dica itself – so real, immediate and all-embracing that you could be forgiven for thinking it had sprung from JRR Tolkien’s own hand.
Don’t be misled, though, for this series is entirely Clive S. Johnson – the author, the poet, the artist. Unique, inventive, idiosyncratic and thought provoking, this series will push you away from the shores of the everyday and into a delightful voyage of discovery. You will find wonder, surprise, dry humour and some gritty truths as you’re inexorably drawn into the pure joy of such a rich, poetic and deep tale, so well and beautifully told.

At the end of a long, slow decline, the huge castle realm of Dica seems to be drawing close to its final days, but few of its remaining inhabitants are aware of this. Even when stirred into some ineffectual action by the arrival of an unexpected army - amassed before its gates - the true meaning of what’s really happening only comes slowly, and only to a small group of oddly assorted characters. Follow their journey as they travel the realm’s vast and convoluted ways, as they eventually unearth a complex and strange past, and much about themselves.

This is the first book of the Dica Series, a leisurely introduction to much of the weird and wonderful that marks this out as a unique 'created-world' story. This is, however, a world wrought with mystery, a world of the unexpected, a world of vast vistas and intimate observations. It’s also a compelling tale, one that builds to a most unexpected and thought-provoking conclusion. At times lyrical, the rich prose will steadily draw you into a totally fresh yet seemingly familiar place and time, one that will stay with you forever.

Synopsis

(A warning from the author:
As with the 1st book, there are a few very dark passages here: parts where I cried as I wrote them, and still cry when I read them - though for some, they're tears of joy. I should add, though, I find myself chuckling quite often, too: I believe there are more light moments than dark.)

Raised at the Institute for Paranormal Dysfunction to test Dr Alex Harmon's theories, Leeth's magic took everyone by surprise. And now, she and her abusive guardian have been taken by a covert government agency where Leeth is training to become their assassin.

But Leeth is both more dangerous than they know, and too innocent for her own good. Sent "back" to school to learn some much-needed social skills – under strict instructions not to kill – Leeth is singularly ill-equipped to deal with the challenges of a normal life.
She wants to belong, but has little idea how to fit in – let alone how mean girls can be.

Nor does she know that an uncanny and ruthless killer, the product of a madman's insane magic, hunts her.

Leeth has some harsh lessons to learn.

She'd better learn fast.

Races of people living in medieval societies populate the giant trees. Known as the Lorns in this particular tree, they welcome the four kids into their world—until Hellferata, the evil spirit descendent of Medusa, intrudes upon their beloved tree.

As the kids search for a way home, Hellferata searches for the prophesied mortal superhero she must battle to the death. Suspecting Michelle for this golden-haired superhero, Hellferata sends her son, Dracu Mort, into the Lorn Tree to kill her. Fearful of the evil spirit the Lorns move to expel the four Americans from their tree. Thinking quickly, the kids devise a plan to avoid the monsters roaming the land and travel to the next tree, where it is rumored there may be a path back home. Will their ingenuity, cunning, and courage help them make it to the Cascade Tree and find a way home, or will Hellferata and Dracu Mort mete out their wrath before they can escape?

(For a limited time only, at the bargain price of $0.99 for the Kindle edition.)
A warning from the author:
I still cry, reading some passages in this, though I also laugh at others, and at others, cheer. But this is not a light story, nor are the characters black and white. There are some very dark and abusive parts, though none graphic, in my opinion. Basically: be guided by the reviews, before buying this book.)

Synopsis

How can she be a widow before her husband is even dead? When the perfectly-normal Ann Jones rants on about a bizarre and hauntingly immersive vision into her own future, her best friend, Alex, thinks she may have taken a swig or two. After her freak encounter, Ann recounts the strange and foreboding glimpse of her future life—one that holds an unanticipated exuberance: her beloved husband dies suddenly (and questionably); she moves to the East Coast; finds love again; joins a peculiar knitting club (full of the strangest assortment of women, none of whom actually knit, but all of whom follow cult-like rules—such as, “What Happens in Knitting Club Stays in Knitting Club”); and becomes deliriously happy. Her whole recollection leaves Alex’s head spinning with one question—has her friend totally lost it? How could anyone be deliriously happy about joining a knitting club? But when Ann presses Alex for an answer about what to do with this “future life vision experience”, Alex must decide whether this strange anecdote is just a desire to be free from Ann’s humdrum existence or a self-fulfilling prophecy. Should Alex support her friend’s “new life” or warn Ann’s husband about his impending doom…With just a touch of magic and chick lit style, fans of Cecelia Ahern will find this book an intriguing read."Written so well the characters pop right out at you. I won’t spoil the plot, but you won’t be able to put this novel down." - Karen Turkal, Author of the Bonerunners

Synopsis

A mysterious man walking the earth for millennia...
And a discovery we might not be ready for...
UK #1 BESTSELLING CHRISTIAN FANTASY

With the success of his UK bestselling religious mystery, The Lazarus Succession, Ken Fry once again crafts a cunning and explosive historical thriller unlike any you've read before. If you love codes, legends, and the excitement of discovery, this book is definitely for you.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

ON TO THE STORY...

Tel Aviv, Israel. Archaeologist Joshua Agar makes a stunning discovery when on one of his excavation sites, they unearth an ancient ossuary, untouched since the day it was buried. Evidence and analysis reveals that the contents of the find appear to be the six of the Seven Seals mentioned in the bible's Book of Revelation.

The Seventh is missing.

Meanwhile, a mysterious man has been walking the earth for millennia. He waits... amassing knowledge and power, seeking to bring about the one event that would release him from his endless existence. With the discovery in Tel Aviv, his waiting might soon be over.

Joshua Agar and his team, Professor Simon Rockwell and Dr. Rachel Carver soon realises the significance of their find. An ancient society known as The Keepers awakens, and they are after the Seven Seals. For it has been told, that whosoever breaks the seven seals will have unimaginable power and control over the new world promised through the Second Coming of Christ.

The frantic hunt for the Seventh Seal begins. Through dusty caves, ancient churches, and even within the most secretive vault on earth, they search for clues to the possible resting place of the missing seal.

The archaeologists are not alone. Another ancient secret brotherhood called the Guardians have long protected the Seven Seals, since the time John of Patmos entrusted to them the Seventh. Using their resources, they attempt to discover the identity of The Grand Keeper and impede his plans for global upheaval.

As scientists, the archaeologists perceive their discovery as a historical relic and not a religious find. But with the forces aroused by the unearthing of the artefact, they start to question if there is indeed truth in the story.

The Patmos Enigma will take you on a journey of wonders and thrills as it hurtles from dark truths to enlightening revelations as the war between science and mysticism commences.

REVIEWS
A genuine laugh-out-loud story.’

‘What I love most about these Ballyyahoo books is the characters, they’re all original and funny but Biddy the witch and her flying vacuum cleaner is by far my favourite.’

‘The funniest witch ever and a really great story – the kids love these Ballyyahoo books.’

‘I love the way Ballyyahoo is such a magical place – there’s always something going on and this story is just great.

AUTHOR’S NOTE
‘The Witch of Ballyyahoo’ is a story that is very special to me. A lot of stories about witches have horrible and unpleasant witches who do wicked things and cast nasty spells. But I wanted to create a witch who is the opposite of that.
The Super-Hero of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

I wanted the witch of Ballyyahoo to save the day whenever she could. The witch of Ballyyahoo would be the super-hero of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.

I wrote my witch to be a guardian of the town. She watches out for anything going wrong and any criminals that come along can watch out - she'll be sure to get them. Sometimes she needs a little bit of help and so she enjoys teaching the Ballyyahoo kids her tricks and magic so that they can continue her great traditions and assist her in the fight against crime in Ballyyahoo. I also made her funny and eccentric – her name is Biddy and she enjoys Zumba dancing and peanuts.

BIDDY THE CRIME FIGHTING WITCH
Biddy the crime-fighting witch has come a long way from the days of the broom stick because she uses a vacuum cleaner to fly from place to place and is also very fond of her very own special istone, a powerful tool which, if it fell into the wrong hands could spell disaster - Ballyyahoo would be more than just gone – Ballyyahoo would be a thousand shades of disappeared!

I hope you enjoy reading the Witch of Ballyyahoo as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Synopsis

This non-fiction, colour-illustrated book describes my close relationship with old postcards. I've been collecting postcards since the nineteen seventies and now own over two thousand of these charming, beautifully quirky historical items. I started fanatically collecting them while writing my thesis on Fantasy in Postcards at art college, where I was studying for a graphic design degree. My thesis won me a first with distinction, whereas my graphic art annoyingly gained me only a 2:2. I was asked by my art history tutor to lecture on the subject of Fantasy in Postcards. As I was only twenty-one at the time, I didn't feel ready. I opted to write this book instead. All the cards in my book are from my own large collection.

Synopsis

The third book of the Stone Quest Series finds Luke Stone and Beth Rutledge's marriage teetering on the edge of dissolution as their daughter Bridget Grace at thirteen, the spitting image of her father, struggles to break free of parental restraint, especially her father's attempts to guide and constrain her "second sight," the same psychic abilities he has, but which in her are ,if anything, even more pronounced. Now, adding to the tumult, is the case of three missing girls, all vanished from the Lower East Side of New York City -- the area where Luke in his teens lived as the disciple of the black magician and now his nemesis Armand Jacobi. As Luke is drawn more deeply into the girls' case, his investigation takes him back to Alphabet City and the raging Vampire Club scene. Ominous signs develop pointing irrefutably to Jacobi's involvement. But as Luke immerses himself in the case, staying longer and longer away from home, the relationship between Beth and Bridget Grace simmers more and more toxic. Unknown to either of her parents, BG has developed a secret, powerful relationship with a mysterious young man whom she first met in an online chat room. One day, as Luke is on his way to NYC , and after yet another blow up with her mother -- BG, like the three other missing girls-- vanishes, leaving behind a cryptic note. As Luke's investigation into BG's disappearance gets underway with the help of retired NY detective Stan Banor, Luke's world is further shattered by the sudden appearance of a beautiful older woman, a woman's whose face he knows but whom he cannot quite place. The woman is Danuta Dabrowitz, his mother, and she brings with her many memories and painful secrets. Though her cause, so she tells him, is but one: to join her powers with his in order to find Bridget Grace and bring her home, Luke cannot fully trust the woman who had so betrayed him as a child by leaving him alone in the hands of his abusive alcoholic father. With each passing day, the investigation grows more gruesome, and more deadly--even turning up the skeletal remains of a victim murdered twenty-five years ago, Matthew, whose murder has haunted Luke all his life. Working closely with Stan and his men, and with retired Sheriff Esther Rinaldi, Luke grows certain the girls' case is no longer a missing persons but a homicide. Then Danuta tells him of their heritage to an ancient people, the Neuri, who possess enormous powers, including the power of shape-shifting-- a power that Armand Jacobi himself may share. Once again, Luke Stone finds himself pitted against Armand Jacobi.. Surrounded with warriors he is not sure he can trust-- the most pre-eminent of whom is Luke himself.-- Luke must race against the greatest enemy of all -- time-- in this battle against his adversary to save his daughter's life.

Synopsis

These are linked stories, in the spirit of Ray Bradbury's Dandelion Wine. They are about a sixteen-year old girl, Kedzie Greer, who was raised in a utopian community and leaves home to make her way in a dystopian society. The year is 2199; the place, the Reunited States.

In these stories, technology coexists with a haunted world. There are witches and robots, ghosts and e-beasts, a mystical lake and a human warehouse.

If you want to get into the main story at once, begin with “Leaving Home.” It is about Kedzie's decision to seek a life outside the town gates.

If you want to begin with background on the town, start with “The Town With Four Names.” It has had a long strange trip from its beginning in the late nineteenth century, when it resembled the Chautauqua Institution, to 2199.

Synopsis

Her demonic Angel and other short stories, published in 2016, is a collection of all of my short stories written thus far. This baker's dozen of short stories have been written in a variety of genres so hopefully there should be something for everyone. Some tales are stranger than others, but all could be said to be different shades of dark. Despite its somewhat suggestive title, Her demonic Angel is not erotica.

To whet your appetite, here are the titles of some of the short stories: ‘The boy they called Dragon’, ‘The day nobody gave a damn’, ‘An email from Jane’, ‘Stuff’, ‘Getting rid of the enemy’, ‘Skin’, ‘Too beautiful’, ‘Philately will get you nowhere’, ‘Mirror, mirror’, ‘In memoriam'.

Available in Kindle, paperback, and audiobook editions.

Synopsis

Book 2 of the Realm of Dica series.

When the castle realm of Dica again draws close to its final days, the ancient power long placed at its heart appears to be giving way to a new era, as the knowledge of the old founding fathers is methodically unearthed. It brings about a fresh mechanicking world, one seemingly bright with hope. All it lacks, to exploit these riches to the full, is knowledge long ago secreted to a distant colony, a place of safekeeping beyond the Gray Mountains. Travel with an oddly assorted party of both familiar and new wayfarers as they seek out that knowledge, as they strive to return the old power, but in service to a new future. Journey also into mystery and intrigue, as those familiar characters discover much more besides.

This is the second book in the Dica Series, a faster paced pursuit of the weird and wonderful 'created-world' introduced in Leiyatel’s Embrace. Although still a world wrought with mystery, a world of the unexpected, a world of vast vistas and intimate observations, it is also a compelling tale, a journey of individual journeys, all made beyond the vast confines of Dica. At times lyrical, the rich prose will carry you into a totally fresh yet seemingly familiar place and time, one that will stay with you forever.

The ancient engers knew it as a theoretical entity, one so remotely implausible that the idea only survived in an obscure verse. How could an ages-old poem give rise to the reality of the days of the Cold Angel, days that threaten the realm’s very future? And why does a woman’s determination to do right by her sister put her at the heart of a mystery, one that threatens to destroy the only love that sister has ever known?

Someone’s lost memories lead her to a strange meeting with a man in an even stranger tower, one that pricked star holes in the sky until but a few days before. What of it now, though, and its keeper’s determination to put things right at all costs? How is she to deal with the painful dilemma he draws her towards - when she’s asked to weigh the love of her sister against a duty to save the realm?

Synopsis

Often the Singularity is imagined in apocalyptic terms: the end of one world and the beginning of another, like earth and heaven. I don't see it that way. I saw a new order of beings called e-beasts. The Internet is their natural environment, like water is to fish.

They can do anything on the Internet (aka, Networld) because the limits do not apply to them. They look down on people generally, but not all of them are set on world domination.

Some, called Sparks, are barely aware they are alive at all. Some, like Beltzhoover the Vast, are corrupt rulers of vast empires. The Stovepipes live to party. The Dreadful Night loathe people and torment them for fun.

Cel, an intelligent and idealistic e-beast, sets out on a quest to restore good order to Networld. The people adapt, adapt, adapt to deteriorating conditions. Then something happens that neither Cel nor the people see coming.

Stella has grown up harbouring a secret – a view of her world no one else can see.

Being a Starmaker, working alone at the top of the Star Tower, seemed like the job for her. Maybe so, but the view constantly reminds her how unique she really is in this realm of Dica.

She finally resolves to find out why, and thereby begins another enthralling episode in this much loved created-world’s turbulent history. It’s a tale seen through the eyes of Stella, a fresh, new Dican character, the daughter of Geran and Falmeard – two readers’ favourites from this singular series.

Follow Stella as she uncovers the truth not only about herself, but about the true nature of her world, and of all those held captive within it. It’s a path to discovery fraught with dangers only she and some few beloved Dican characters, like Lord Nephril, can overcome.

Even Stella’s own life comes under threat when she decides to challenge the realm’s established order, when she becomes one young woman against the might of the certain power of Dica.

Synopsis

They told us “No.”

If they had taken the time to learn about us, to truly understand what it was that made us human, they would’ve known that that had been their greatest mistake.

Sixty-seven years ago the Qash'vo'tar conquered Earth. They had judged humanity as dangerous and unworthy of joining the other races among the stars. Ever since then, the aliens had ruled from above, keeping humanity from even thinking about reaching for the stars. The Qash'vo'tar did not care what humanity did on the ground, as long as they didn't attempt to build anything that could get them to the stars. Outmatched in every way and not willing to accept the cost of fighting back, the United Earth gave up ever again reaching beyond the boundary of Earth's sky.

In its isolation, humanity turned its eyes from the sky and pointed them to the ground. Instead of the stars, humanity explored the oceans, burrowed deep underground, and broadened its understanding of laws of physics. Until finally they could take no more. In secret the United Earth's best scientists attempted to find a way out. They experimented, and in a single moment changed the fate of humanity. Accidentally, they broke through someplace else, created a breach in space-time. Deep underground, they created a portal to another universe.

They made a breach to a universe where there was magic. This new universe changed them, changed their own universe. This one accident gave them a new weapon against the Qash'vo'tar. A weapon that the aliens had no knowledge of. It gave humanity magic. And they studied it, integrated it with their technology, and they waited for the right time to strike back against their alien overlords.

And now, sixty-seven years after they had been conquered, it was time for humanity to show the Qash'vo'tar that they had been right to fear humanity. Now was the time for humanity to reclaim its world and carve a place for Earth among the stars.

Broken Stars is the first book in the Universe on Fire series, an epic science fiction series with some fantasy elements. It follows humanity as it attempts to make a place for itself in a hostile galaxy.

Book 3 of the Realm of Dica series.

These are folk who’ll become as real to you as friends or family, and whose revealing and somehow contemporary story will stay with you for ever more.

You will find wonder, surprise, dry humour and some gritty truths as you’re inexorably drawn into the pure joy of such a rich, poetic and deep tale, so well and beautifully told.

With the ancient castle realm of Dica seemingly set upon a bright path into a brave new mechanicking future, flaws become evident, flaws needing time to put right. The old knowledge cannot be taken up fast enough to offset the loss of the ancient power of Leiyatel, and so plans are set in motion that aren’t to everyone’s liking. Follow both familiar and new characters, all embroiled in their own intrigue and deceit, as they chase often conflicting ends, each convinced they know what’s right for the realm

This is the third book in the Dica Series, one that steps out smartly on the road to revelation, uncovering all about the weird and wonderful 'created-world' introduced in Leiyatel’s Embrace. By it, a more compelling story develops, one that reaches out far further than even the vast confines of Dica. Still at times lyrical and rich, the prose now promises to carry you beyond the weird and wonderful, beyond the idiosyncratic and idiotic, into an understanding that will truly stay with you for the rest of time.

Synopsis

Summerbird Asii is a truly inept seer; she’d be the first to admit it. Being inadequate is what has kept her alive and unnoticed her entire life. She knows she was born in Emythor, a magic place created by a mysterious entity. Somehow, she has grown up in a mundane, non-magical land, quietly different, until she is presented with a “crystal ball.” Its first directions are to use it to earn a living and ignore whatever she sees in it. Left in a land where being a magical creature could get a person arrested—even magic as ineffective as hers—she obeys as well as she can. But Summerbird cannot forget her ties to the magic world. The only thing that her longing and wishing brings is a tiny griffin on a mission.
A griffin! In her home! Oh, goddess, can things get any worse? Of course, they can…
Miffin Griffin is an extraordinary magical creature with a problem. The magical world of Emythor, created by an omnipotent and immortal entity called Treaty, is in grave danger. Miffin needs Summerbird Asii's help, once he has convinced her to return to Emythor. The problems are many, so he decides not to tell her much of anything—that there are evil goings-on around Emythor and life there is teetering on the edge of disaster—and Treaty is being pursued by an evil mage—Svar Blackstaff. Oh, and no one can find the entity. Convinced Summerbird has dormant magic deep within her, Miffin’s plan is perfect: teach her the lines of her magic, and she can locate the missing entity.
Since he made Emythor, Treaty has protected the Fey—the magical folk—from the non-magical humans and kept Emythor veiled from all but the Fey. The humankind have forgotten Emythor ever existed—but they are being reminded…
Blackstaff makes it clear that he will have treaty’s magic, whether or not Summerbird is in his way. She’s suspicious. What has she done to warrant this? Sensing Miffin neglected to share vital information with her, she wants answers, but Miffin disappears.
Summerbird must carry on with Miffin’s orders, for he was right about her hidden abilities. But while learning to use her magic, Summerbird meets a man who steals her heart and warns her—they aren’t teaching you all that you will need to survive. When they reluctantly part, another person goes missing—
Those who remain around Summerbird Asii are gradually realizing the truth—somewhere deep within her is a wellspring of pure, elemental magic, just waiting to be unlocked. The trouble is finding the key before someone else finds it first.
With her friends disappearing faster than she can track, Summerbird prepares for a quest that might kill her and those about whom she cares. Her undertaking—find Treaty and spirit him away from the evil enemy that hunts them both—is a dangerous one.
But who can she trust—the mysterious man who haunts her dreams? The Fey who may or may not be teaching her what she needs to survive Emythor? Or can it be that there is no one? And more importantly, who is her enemy—the evil mage who makes her feel things he shouldn’t? Those who seem to know more about her past than anyone should? Or perhaps those who appear to be helping her and really aren’t…
Summerbird Rises is a tale of learning to trust when portents would lead her the opposite way. Of a young woman opening herself up to friendships the first time in her life, and learning to trust herself and her judgment. But it is also the beginnings of a grand adventure, where those friends—who might not be who they say they are—come together and prepare for a dangerous quest that will either save their world or enable an ancient evil to destroy it.

Synopsis

If the Voyager 1 space probe was picked up in outer space by extraterrestrials, what would happen? Here's your opportunity to find out.

Voyager 1 was launched by NASA in 1977 to study the outer solar system and, ultimately, interstellar space. It carried a gold-plated audio-visual disc in the event that it might be found by intelligent life-forms from other planetary systems. It was discovered by goopmutt bandits who towed it through interstellar space at superluminal speed. In an effort to conceal their crime, they manipulated the data on the craft’s digital tape recorder and left it in the heliosphere where its signal could still be picked up from Earth. Eventually, they abandoned the probe in the Centaurus galaxy where it was picked up by two itinerant spacecombers from a small circumbinary planet known as Morys Minor.

Synopsis

Book 5 of the Realm of Dica series.

On the day Prescinda leaves the fishing village of Grayden, and her marriage to a man she’s never loved, her return to the old family home of Blisteraising Farm is interrupted. A surprise visit by Nephril brings with it a strange request that he seems reluctant to explain.

“I know thou hath heard talk of a distant city,” was how he broached it, which seemed more benign than his last request that she "scare someone almost to death". This time she was asked to help Falmeard spy out a rare sight, but one which could very well foretell the end of the realm of Dica, and thereby of existence itself.

There begins a most strange journey that turns into a race to a discovery that should never have been possible. What finally comes to light places Dica and its people in their true perspective, and reveals an enemy within, an enemy they must defeat.

But even if Prescinda and her friends succeed, has Dica already been taken too far awry for the damage to be undone? Can they find a way to bring the realm back onto the path to a safe new future, and so keep true to the artist’s eye?

Synopsis

Mayra. A powerful Witch who rides with a spirited clan of reevers—the king’s enforcers—she believes she has reached the pinnacle of her profession. She is a striking woman, has wealth and power—both magical and political—and she wears black wrist rings that tell all that she is not simply a Witch. She is a Ring-Witch, with a level of magic only those of her kind can match. Living in a lawful, well-controlled kingdom puts a damper on her love of adventure—but lately, there’s not even an occasional miscreant to track down. How can there be nothing left to engage with out there? If she doesn’t find something to distract her, she’s going to end up as an instructor at the Sorcery Guild. After all, the minds and magic of other young female Witches could use her cynical and austere outlook on working with men. But a new assignment literally falls into the lap of the reevers, and within days, her boredom has been alleviated in ways she never dreamed. She starts hearing voices, having strange and terrifying sensations thrust upon her and suffering through visions of humans burning to death and terrible destruction brought down upon villages. Revelations that, all too quickly, become a reality—and make her long for the tame and the monotonous.
Wolfe. An enigmatic and scheming man who is just captivating enough to catch the eye of a young Witch, it doesn’t take him long to figure out that Mayra is one female he will be hard-pressed to deceive. Trying to keep one step ahead of her is interfering with his agenda: locate and steal a small, innocuous book that contains information on the magical wrist rings that Mayra wears. And incidentally, that he wears, as well—but that’s yet another secret he’s keeping. With his brother captured by well-meaning Scholars, his Familiars guarding a promising young male Witch from his insane master—who has managed to turn himself into an owl—does he have time for an intriguing female who is hearing things? He’ll have to make time, because not only he is hearing them, too, Mayra just walked off with the book he’s been searching for. So much for his plan to swoop in, take what he needed and be on his way.
Mayra and Wolfe eventually join forces to investigate the destruction of villages and towns within the kingdom, by something vile enough to incinerate everything: buildings, forests, animals and people. But these invaders confuse the reevers and Wolfe. Why would the attackers leave valuable gold and jewels behind? Why slaughter people who were at least marketable as slaves? What do these savages want? Both of them—suspicious and wary of the other at first—soon realize that they are hearing and feeling the same presence, which they gradually realize is a dragon.
Dragons? Mayra and Wolfe set out to find the magnificent creatures and determine if they are truly guilty of the destruction being laid at their talons. But the ancient, long-forgotten creatures quickly become perfect scapegoats for the king, who denounces and vilifies them as the cause of present-day horrors. He wants to hunt them down, but his motive is poles apart—the cunning king is certain he can force them to help him conquer the world if only he can figure out how to control them.
Further investigation uncovers further peril: someone very close to the group is spying and undermining their efforts to unmask their enemy. Who is the mastermind behind this unspeakable betrayal? But the question of whether the dragons are innocent pawns or vicious human-killers becomes moot. On a quiet, snowy morning, the dragons return, and they carry brutal, fire-wielding men who will not stop their attack until every last Witch is dead.

Synopsis

This collection of short stories and poems grew from many different sources. Some tales have been sitting in my writing files for nearly fifteen years waiting to be properly edited.
Many grew out of prompts from the people at various writing groups, and some even came from personal experience.
Some simple happened because during bouts of people watching I discovered there were short tales everywhere.
I am often asked how I can write some of my darker material when I generally am a bright and positive person.
Like most things in life, stories very quickly take on a life of their own, and if they choose to be dark, so be it. Every parent knows that some of their children will grow up happy and others will march to a totally different drummer.
So please enjoy this mad pool of stories and poems. It will be a meal with a wide variety of taste and flavor.

(A warning from the author:
There are still some dark passages, but less than the previous two books. The story is now well under way.

Despite the loneliness and hardships, Leeth is relishing her freedom, and is still determined to honor the promises she’s made.

Synopsis

You know, a lot of people are claiming to have spoken to gods (most of them institutionalized), but has anyone ever claimed that a Goddess head-butted them?

Yeah, hi, I'm Alex. If you can't tell, my life is weird.

Actually, it isn't just mine. There's this string of seemingly unrelated murders that's got people scratching their heads, some kind of illegal black magic tournament, and then there's Helen, my beautiful classmate, who's being targeted by some wizard-assassins.

All in all a lot to deal with for someone who's just found out about magic. Wish me luck.

Collects parts 10 - 33 of the weekly swords-and-sorcery serial, Seven Stones. With the means to quiet his nightmares and a better idea of their source, Reverend Kobb and his companions travel further north in search of the root of the evil.

Anessa’s defeat of the monster that threatened Alcston is a solid victory, and obtaining the obscure ingredient that Haelen needs to grant Kobb sleep is more than reward enough. But the village also holds a map that shows the location of stone circle that plagues Kobb’s dreams.

Invigorated by their mutual success, the journey seems almost pleasant. But when they arrive, lethal magics bar their path. Pressing on offers only death, so Kobb must make a deal to lower the barrier; a deal that will see him face the Eaters again, and this time he must take one alive.

With each choice challenging the friendship between Kobb, Anessa, and Haelen, which of them will sacrifice their principles for the slim chance of success?
