Marilyn MessikCountry: United Kingdom
BiographyA regular feature and fiction writer for several national magazines, Marilyn also set up a children’s book and party business in the early '80s, opening first one shop and then a second. At the end of the '80s following a trip to the U.S., she moved into the travel market, specialising in places to stay in the six New England States. Her advisory and booking service grew and she set up a publishing company to make the information more widely available. The book proved popular on both sides of the Atlantic and Marilyn spoke at various industry conferences and became a Board Member of the Professional Association of Innkeepers. The book Selected Hotels & Inns was bought out by Thomas Cook Publishing. In 2007 Marilyn set up a copywriting consultancy, to work with businesses and help shape their messages to optimum effect.
She’s been married to her very patient husband for more years than he deserves, and they have two children, five grandchildren and, somewhat to their surprise, several granddogs.
