Poppy Haworth was born and brought up in North Manchester in the 1950's. When she was young she asked 'What does grandma do?' - 'Grandma is a bookmaker' came the reply. For a number of years Poppy thought her grandma made books. Recently whilst researching her family tree Poppy began to piece together her grandma's life, her book being a blend of fact and fiction of that life in the late 1920's early 30's.
The Accidental Bookmakeress is a blend of fact and fiction. Set in the late 1920s early 1930s based in Manchester and a Lancashire market town. Moving yet heartwarming.
